BR Mk1 - Carmine & Cream

Recently arrived is this rake of ex-BR Mk1s, repainted from a mix of Maroon and blue/grey into the attractive eastern region Crimson/cream of the 1950s. This 4 coach rake provides passenger services on daily services, behind both steam and diesel.

This 4 coach rake is currently strengthened to 6 coaches with 2 new crimson/cream coaches, a RU (restaurant unclassified, with kitchen) and a RFO (restuarant First open) which will make up half our 2nd rake, once the other coaches are available.

BR Mk1 - Green

Our second 4 coach rake of Mk1s. These were purchased from BR. the ownership group of 92 squadron paid for part the purchase, and the repaint, so it was decided to paint them green, both for their loco, and future locos they plan to bring to the railway, and also for our diesel locos. They often form part of our daily service, behind a diesel, or suitable steam locomotive.

LNER Gresley - Teak

A popular 4 coach rake with tourists and enthusiasts, used most days where more than 2 trains are in operation. Beautifully restored to original LNER condition by the railway, with help from the A4 society, and other LNER locomotive owners at the railway.

LNER Thompson - Teak

Restored by the Thompson society in our carriage works at Appleby. A lovely rake of coaches, Just increased to 4 in length due to the completion of another coach.  Although still popular with enthusiasts, they are not as popular with the public as the Gresley's are, due to their more graceful lines.

Another brake coach has been purchased for this rake, as soon, 2 coaches, a standard coach and a brake, are to be modified together, to create a buffet car, thus making a 4 coach rake, with a buffet car.

LNER Gresley - Silver Jubilee

Another beautiful rake, restored by the A4 society for use with silver Fox. Currently used on our luxury dining trains 'The Silver Jubilee' Every other Saturday and Sunday lunch and evening.
